From September 17, 2026 to September 20, 2026

Some flavours can tell the story of a place before they even reach the table. In Castelfranco in Miscano, in the heart of the Fortore area, caciocavallo is one of them: a cheese deeply connected to rural culture, livestock farming and cheesemaking knowledge handed down through generations.

From 17 to 20 September 2026, this heritage takes centre stage once again during the 26th Caciocavallo Festival, four days devoted to local produce and to the enduring relationship with the land that continues to shape the identity of this community.

The main programme begins on Friday, 18 September, with the opening of the food stands and tastings dedicated to the “King Caciocavallo”, served in different ways alongside traditional dishes and locally sourced meats. Food events continue throughout the weekend, at both lunchtime and dinner, offering visitors the opportunity to discover the area through its flavours.

On Saturday and Sunday, the traditional San Fedele Fair also returns, with stands reopening from 9:00 a.m. Each evening will conclude with live musical entertainment.

The festival officially opens on Thursday, 17 September at 7:00 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local civil and religious authorities.

Now in its 26th edition, the festival celebrates much more than a cheese. It brings together the farmers, traditions, skills and flavours that continue to tell the story of the Fortore area.
