For over thirty years, Campoli del Monte Taburno has celebrated one of the products rooted in its agricultural heritage. On 3 and 4 October, the Fagiolo del Taburno Festival returns with local cuisine, zero-kilometre produce, nature and a new project dedicated to protecting and promoting this traditional legume.
Extended description
Some traditions endure through time, while others continue to evolve, finding new ways to tell the story of their land. In Campoli del Monte Taburno, on 3 and 4 October 2026, the Fagiolo del Taburno Festival returns for its 31st edition.
For more than thirty years, the event has placed a product deeply rooted in local agricultural history and food culture at the heart of the community. The bean becomes a starting point for rediscovering flavours, recipes and zero-kilometre produce, as well as the work of those who continue to preserve the rural heritage of the Taburno area.
This year's edition, however, also looks to the future. A collaboration between Pro Loco Monte Taburno and the renewed Slow Food Benevento Convivium has launched a project dedicated to the Fagiolo del Taburno that will also involve CREA – the Italian Council for Agricultural Research and Economics.
The project aims to deepen knowledge of this local variety through the conservation and cataloguing of its seed heritage and the study of its agronomic, sensory and nutritional characteristics. It is an initiative that brings tradition and research together, helping to protect agricultural biodiversity and ensuring that this distinctive product is not simply a legacy of the past, but can continue to play a role in the area's future.
Food will be joined by opportunities to explore the surrounding landscape. Among the new experiences planned for the 31st edition is a vineyard aperitif for two-wheel enthusiasts, organised in collaboration with Vespa Club Tocco Caudio and designed to explore the valleys around Campoli. Hiking enthusiasts will also be able to discover the area's natural beauty along a route organised with ASD La Dormiente – Trekking Camposauro.
Two days, therefore, to come together and enjoy the flavours of the Taburno, while discovering the land from which those flavours originate.
A tradition that continues to grow
Reaching the 31st edition means preserving an event that has brought different generations together over more than three decades.
As Giuseppe Caporaso, President of Pro Loco Monte Taburno, explains, the aim is not only to keep alive an event that belongs to the local community, but also to continue improving and innovating it while creating new partnerships that can contribute to the development and promotion of the area.
This evolution is one of the defining features of the 2026 edition. Food remains at the heart of the festival, but the Fagiolo del Taburno becomes part of a broader story involving agriculture, research, biodiversity, landscape and community.
Between food and landscape
Throughout the weekend, Campoli del Monte Taburno will become a meeting place for those wishing to rediscover traditional cuisine and local produce.
The Fagiolo del Taburno will take centre stage in dishes inspired by local culinary traditions, together with other zero-kilometre products from the area.
Food experiences will be accompanied by outdoor activities, with routes for hiking and two-wheel enthusiasts offering another way to discover the landscape surrounding the village.
