In the heart of Sannio, the town of Solopaca turns into a stage of beauty and creativity with its iconic Grape Festival — one of the most breathtaking events in Southern Italy. The highlight is the parade of allegorical floats, true works of art made entirely with real grape berries, hand-glued in elaborate designs.

Each float tells a different story — mythology, history, popular culture — transforming grapes into living mosaics. Surrounding the parade are folk music, wine tastings, artisan markets, guided tours, and performances that fill the streets with joy.

Locals of all ages take part, honoring the fruit that defines their land. Wines like Falanghina and Aglianico del Taburno DOC take center stage, celebrated in the very vineyards that produce them.

It’s a festival where harvest becomes heritage, and artistry is rooted in the soil. An unmissable event for anyone who loves honest wine, deep tradition, and community that shines.

Curiosities

• Each float uses over 100,000 real grapes, hand-glued in different shades to create stunning grape "mosaics."
• The float themes are kept secret until the day of the parade, to surprise both the audience and the jury.
• The first official edition of the festival dates back to 1979, but its spirit comes from ancient harvest celebrations.
• Some families have taken part in building floats for generations, passing down techniques and passion.
