Some events tell history. Others bring it back to life.

From 20 to 23 August, the charming village of Faicchio once again steps back in time with Medievalia – Palio delle Contrade 2026, one of the most fascinating historical reenactments in the Sannio region. For four evenings, the entire historic centre becomes an open-air stage where streets, squares and ancient buildings create the perfect setting for an unforgettable medieval experience.

Each evening begins with the spectacular Historical Parade, departing from Piazza Palmieri and reaching Piazza Roma, the heart of the festival. Here, visitors will witness the official ceremonies of the Palio, breathtaking performances by the Flag Throwers of Florence, demonstrations by the Falconers of Irno, theatrical shows by the Compagnia de lo Grifone, and exciting competitions between the village districts. Traditional contests include the Barrel Race, Sack Race, Three-Legged Race, Chair Race, Greasy Pole Climb, Tin Throwing Challenge, Rooster Race and the Archers' Tournament.

The atmosphere will be enriched by the travelling musicians Arkana Kulto, Eldriss and Castigamatt, whose drums and medieval melodies will accompany visitors through the village streets.

The festival reaches its climax on Sunday, 23 August, when, following the final competitions, the winning district of the 2026 Palio delle Contrade will be officially proclaimed.

From 8:00 p.m. each evening, visitors will also be able to enjoy traditional food stalls managed by Faicchio's local restaurants, alongside medieval markets and historical games that make the experience even more immersive.

More than a historical reenactment, Medievalia is the celebration of a community that proudly preserves its traditions, transforming history into a vibrant event filled with culture, entertainment and authentic local identity. It is an experience that captivates visitors of all ages and allows everyone to rediscover the timeless charm of one of the Sannio's most fascinating villages.
