Some trails are not only meant to lead to a destination: they help a community remember how it has learned, over time, to understand its mountain. The Social Trekking towards San Michele, now in its 9th edition, was born from this deep relationship between Frasso Telesino and the Taburno Camposauro landscape. The route follows the historic 36 Votate, a name that already preserves a fragment of local geography: thirty-six bends, thirty-six turns, thirty-six passages guiding walkers along the mountain slope towards San Michele. This is not a simple walk, but an experience of slow and conscious tourism, designed for those who love nature, hiking and the kind of sociability that grows naturally, step by step. Organised by Pro Loco Frasso Telesino APS, with the patronage of UNPLI BeneventoUNPLI, the Municipality of Frasso Telesino and the Taburno Camposauro Regional Park Authority, the initiative promotes historic trails and invites participants to experience the mountain with care, respect and community spirit. The trek starts from the Fontana del Soldato, both a symbolic and practical meeting point, and leads participants towards San Michele, where a shared refreshment moment is planned. One of the most meaningful aspects of the event is its attention to the environment: each participant is asked to bring reusable cutlery, cup and plate, reducing single-use plastic and turning the outdoor lunch into a concrete gesture of responsibility. Here, the mountain is not a backdrop to consume, but a space to inhabit with awareness. For this reason, the Social Trekking towards San Michele is much more than a hike: it is a small collective ritual, a way to meet, breathe, walk together and rediscover the value of places that may seem silent, but speak at every turn.
