Some products can tell the story of a place even before they reach the table. They speak of the land where they are grown, the people who continue to care for it and the customs that, over time, become part of a community's identity.
This connection lies at the heart of “Taburno Experience – La Patata di Montagna”, taking place on 12 and 13 September 2026 in Cacciano di Cautano.
At the centre of the two-day event is the traditional mountain potato grown beneath the soil of the Taburno area, around which Pro Loco Cepino Prata has created an experience that goes beyond food alone. Gastronomic stands will offer visitors the chance to discover the product through local cuisine, while workshops, live music and excursions will provide different ways to explore and experience the surrounding area.
Here, the mountain is much more than a backdrop. It becomes part of the story: a landscape to discover on foot and a place closely connected to local produce, customs and knowledge.
This commitment to preserving and promoting local heritage has also led to an important milestone: this year, Taburno Experience is officially a candidate for the UNPLI “Sagra di Qualità” recognition, dedicated to festivals committed to celebrating local traditions and distinctive products.
For two days, Piazza Principessa di Piemonte will become a starting point for discovering Cacciano and the Taburno area through flavours, nature and shared experiences.
Because sometimes something as simple as a product grown beneath the soil can tell the story of everything that land holds.
